Other Remote Working News

Want to stay on the cutting edge? Here’s what else is happening in the world of all things remote that you should know about:

  • Uruguay introduces a digital nomad visa, offering a hassle-free option without income restrictions, making it an appealing choice for remote workers. With a low-cost application fee of €9 and a maximum stay of 180 days, it is accessible to tourists who wish to extend their stay as digital nomads.

  • Super-commuting, the practice of travelling 90+ minutes each way for work, has hit a 10-year low. Before COVID, the number of super commuters grew by 45%, reaching 4.6 million in 2019 from 3.2 million in 2010, but now they have experienced the sharpest drop-off, especially among high-earning individuals who have more leverage to negotiate remote work arrangements.

  • Elon Musk expressed his belief that remote work is morally wrong during a talk at the Wall Street Journal CEO Summit. He emphasized the importance of in-person collaboration and argued that remote work could hinder the speed and efficiency of decision-making processes within organizations. I couldn’t disagree with him any more!

Fun fact of the month 🤓 Last week marked a significant milestone in my life as I arrived in Albania, my 40th country to explore! Being a nomad for 6 years, a remote worker for 5, and a passionate world traveller for many more, there is nothing that brings me greater joy than immersing myself in the experience of discovering a new and unfamiliar destination

That’s it for now!
